The Texas A&M Aggies (5-2) have lost their last two games, albeit against two difficult opponents, and will look to get back on track this Saturday when they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4) from College Station in an SEC football match up.
The Aggies turned the ball over three times last week against Ole Miss, and only gained 192 total yards. The team also fell to Alabama 41 to 23, after giving up 258 yards rushing to the Crimson Tide. Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin believes there are a lot of questions the team has to answer this game in order to turn their season around.
One of the questions the team will have to answer on offense is how to put quarterback Kyle Allen in better positions to play well. Allen struggled heavily against Ole Miss, completing only 12 of his 34 passes while throwing an interception and no touchdowns. Senior running back Tra Carson figures to be more involved in the offense, having rushed for 524 yards so far this season.
For the Gamecocks, the team will hope to win its second consecutive game under interim coach Shawn Elliot. While it is certainly no easy job to follow in Steve Spurrier’s footsteps, Elliot is off to a solid start after the Gamecocks came up with the win in his debut against Vanderbilt.
Coach Elliot believes that his team will have a fight on their hands this Saturday in order to make it two in a row, against a very good Texas A&M team.
The Gamecocks will hope senior running back Brandon Wilds continues to run the ball like he did last game, where he had 119 yards on 24 carries. Junior receiver Pharoh Cooper, who is coming off a game where he caught 7 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown, will be one of the key targets for quarterback Perry Orth.
The game is set to kickoff at noon on Saturday, October 31 from Kyle Field in College Station.
The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
