Gator Men’s Basketball Beats Navy In Opener
It wasn’t pretty at times but the Florida men’s basketball team opens its season with a win as it grinds out a 59-41 win at Navy Friday night. New Gator coach Mike White gets a win in his debut for Florida as the Gator defense shines, holding Navy to less than 29 percent shooting from the floor while outrebounding the Midshipmen 47 to 22 in the game.
Florida’s Devin Robinson led the way for Florida with his first career double-double as he scores 13 points while grabbing 10 boards off the bench. In all, 11 players saw playing time for Florida in the game.
Despite the win, there were areas the Gators need to get better in, especially shooting from beyond the arc (they hit just 3 of 19) and free throw shooting again was poor (10 of 19) in the game. Florida only had eight assists in the game and turned it over 19 times.
The Gators will next host North Carolina A&T on Monday.
