Gators to Face Saint Joseph’s in Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament
The Florida Gators men’s basketball team will head to Uncasville, Connecticut this weekend to take part in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame 2015 Tip-Off Tournament.
First up for the Gators (2-0) is a date with Saint Joseph’s on Saturday.
Florida has to be confident coming off of their smashing of North Carolina A&T on Monday. The Gators were able to shoot over 50% from deep in making 15 threes against the Aggies. While the 104 points Florida scored were a vast improvement over their offensive performance in their opener against Navy, head coach Mike White believes it was simply due to the Gators hitting their shots.
The Hawks (3-0) are unbeaten, with three straight home wins to start the season. Saint Joseph’s is led by forward Isaiah Miles. The senior averages a near double double, with 17.0 ppg and 9.3 rpg. Hawks assistant coach Dave Duda thinks the Florida game will be a tough test for his team.
If the Gators can get past Saint Joseph’s, they’ll take on the winner of Saturday’s Purdue vs Old Dominion game on Sunday.
Tip off between Florida and Saint Joseph’s is at 2:30, with coverage on ESPN Gainesville 95.3 following the conclusion of Florida football’s game against FAU.
