The Atlanta Hawks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 100-87 Friday night in Atlanta in a wire-to-wire victory as Al Horford led the way with 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
ESPN 95.3 caught up with the former Gator who says he’ll definitely be watching the SEC Championship Game where the Gators will take on Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
“I can’t go against my Gators,” said the three-time All-Star. “I’ll probably watch it at home. I’m gonna have some people over and I’m gonna have a little Gator party.”
Florida is a 17.5 point underdog according to Vegas as the media and the general public aren’t giving the Gators much of a chance. Horford believes his alma mater can pull off the upset.
“I’m gonna say 24-23, Gators,” he predicted.
Horford doesn’t have much time these days to watch the current Gator basketball product on the floor but he likes what he’s been able to see from Florida even though the Gators are going through a coaching transition.
“I think the program is in good hands. I really like Mike White’s passion, his approach. I feel like he’s gonna have Gator basketball in the right direction,” he added.
