This week the Florida women’s basketball had the week off to focus on final exams. However, they are still making headlines as rookie; Eleanna Christinaki received a belated birthday gift of being named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
Christinaki led the Gators with a team-high 13 points, her third consecutive 13-plus-point outing over Robert Morris. Marking the ninth consecutive victory is tied for the fourth longest in program history. Florida’s head coach, Amanda Butler, credits the depth of the team as well as the camaraderie among the teammates for their success this far.
The break won’t last too long as Gators return to action this weekend when they host Gator Holiday Classic welcoming North Carolina State, Eastern Kentucky and Saint Francis. Florida will start action on Sunday at 2:30 against Saint Francis. Gator’s head coach, Amanda Butler elaborates on the tradition of the tournament as it enters it’s twenty-fifth year.
As an added incentive to bring out the crowds to the O’Connell Center, according to floridagators.com, there will be plenty of promotions to take advantage of during the tournament including holiday T-shirt!

Looking ahead at their first opponent, Saint Francis is now 2-7 this season after falling to Marshall this week.
This tournament will wrap up non-conference play at home before traveling to Jacksonville on December 30th to face the University of Central Florida.
