
Gator Baseball Prepares for Weekday Series With UNF
No. 1 Florida ended the weekend sweep of Dartmouth with a 8-6 win on Sunday. The Gators move to 12-1 and are currently on a six game winning streak after going 5-0 last week. Sophomore Alex Faedo picked up the win after throwing 5 innings and sophomore Nick Horvath had his first save. Sophomores Dalton Guthrie and JJ Schwarz and junior Buddy Reed lead the offense with two RBI a piece.
Florida Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan says Dartmouth played great and they jumped out early on Faedo with 3 runs on Sunday. The Gators came back from starting slow and gained a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Junior Buddy Reed says it’s always good to get a sweep, Dartmouth battled at the plate all weekend, credit to them for a great series.
Next up the Gators will play the first game of a home and home series at North Florida Tuesday at 6 p.m. O’Sullivan says he’s looking forward to Junior Dane Dunning to start on Tuesday and Freshman Jackson Kowar on Wednesday. Against UCF Last week Dunning pitched 3.1 innings and and gave up three runs.
Freshman Deacon Liput Leads the offense with a .419 batting average, and went 6-19 in the Gators five wins last week. While Schwarz lead the team hitting 4-8 in the sweep of Dartmouth with five RBI and a solo home run.
The Gators travel to take on UNF Tuesday and host UNF Wednesday.
