McElwain Updates on Spring Ball

untitled

Gator football is off to a good starting according to Head Coach Jim McElwain.

Early enrolled wide receivers Freddie Swain, Josh Hammond, and Dre Massey are increasing the competition amongst each other, hoping to catch coach’s attention for some playing time next year.

The team is undergoing some changes, as both Austin Hardin and Travaris Dorsey are leaving the team. Hardin is set to graduate at the end of spring, while Dorsey is transferring to Tuskegee Univesity to finish out his football career.

The Gators will have a full pads practice Wednesday. Both defensive back Duke Dawson and tight end Camrin Knight who have been out with injuries are expected to be back for this practice. McElwain is looking forward to what Wednesday will show for the team.

Junior David Sharpe has stepped up as a leader among the O-lineman according to McElwain, while Antonio Riles is playing faster and harder than ever before.

On another note, redshirt freshman receiver Kalif Jackson could potentially be out for the rest of spring due to a knee injury.
