Preview: Florida Weekend Series Opener Against Kentucky

Florida hopes to continue their wining streak to 17 games as they travel to Kentucky for their weekend series at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The Gators are coming off of a mid-week victory against Florida Atlantic while the Wildcats were victorious in its mid-week match up against Morehead State. Junior Logan Shore will start on the mound for the Gators facing junior Zack Brown in the Friday opener.

Kentucky has won the last three regular season series against Florida. Facing the Gators last season, Brown allowed only five hits in seven-shutout innings in a victory. In their SEC season opener, Kentucky was able to snatch two from the weekend series against Georgia last weekend.

Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan believes with the deep line up coming from Kentucky this match with be a tough one.

The Gators had a close 2-1 Victory against Florida Atlantic on Tuesday. O’Sullivan says his pitching strategy in the mid week game set his pitching up for the Kentucky series.  Junior A.J. Puk will be on the bump opposing senior Dustin Beggs in game two and Gator sophomore Alex Faedo will face senior Kyle Cody for the finish on Sunday.
