Preview: Gator Baseball to Play Seminoles in Jacksonville

The No.1 Florida Gators will face off against No. 8 Florida State tonight in Jacksonville. This game will mark game two of the sunshine state showdowns with game three held on April 12 in Tallahassee. The Gators are coming off consecutive losses against Kentucky in their weekend series. The Gators grabbed the opener (12-5) but Kentucky held Florida to four runs in the last two games and putting up seven and five runs respectively in games two and three. Kentucky has now defeated Florida by a 2-1 margin in the series for the last four seasons.

The Gators battled FSU March 15 in Gainesville and blanked their rivals 6-0. This was their first shutout against FSU in Gainesville since 1994.

The Seminoles are riding a three game winning streak coming off a weather-shortened weekend series against NC State. Taking the sweep for last week’s mid-week series against UCF, sophomore Taylor Walls was named player of the games after securing a win with a RBI single in the 11th .

Freshmen Jackson Kowar will start on the bump for Florida opposing Sophomore Drew Carlton. This will be Carlton’s first start against the Gators and he is fourth in strikeouts (24) amongst the Seminoles.
