Heat Fall to Lakers in Overtime

The Miami Heat lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime 102-100 last night at the Staples Center. After a drama filled day for the Lakers, they managed to pull out a win in overtime. Before the game, D’Angelo Russell spoke to the media about the controversial video posted about teammate Nick Young, saying that he is not sure how it was leaked and apologizing. Russell scored 16 points with five of them coming in overtime while he received boos from fans early in the night.

Last night was the 20th and final meeting between Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade. The two met in the first quarter when Wade blocked one of Bryant’s shots. The Lakers started off the game slow, and at half time, the Heat lead by seven points. Wade lead the Heat with 26 points with 12 of his points being in the fourth quarter and also had 10 rebounds. He says that they didn’t play the Lakers as hard as they should have and that’s why the Lakers won.

The fourth quarter was close, with the Lakers pulling ahead and the Heat answering. At the end of the fourth, the game was tied at 87 and Wade had the opportunity to the win the game for the Heat, but missed the three-point attempt, which pushed the game into overtime. Head Coach Erik Spoelstra says you get what you deserve in this league, but the heat did not deserve to win with all of the mistakes made. At the end, Julius Randle hit a hook shot in the paint to win the game with 1.9 second left in overtime.

Next up, Miami will travel to take on the Kings Friday April 1, at 10 p.m.
