Defensive stops and strong shooting fueled the Orlando Magic (32-43) to win big against the playoff contending Indiana Pacers (39-36).
The storyline heading into the game was the return of Nikola Vucevic, and he didn’t disappoint. Vucevic had 24 points in his first game back after missing 13-games due to a groin injury. He felt great being back out on the floor knocking down shots. During his absence the Magic have dropped 9 of those games. His presence gave the team some added energy as they are now on a three-game winning streak.
Orlando Magic coach Scott Skiles was impressed with his team and praised Evan Fournier’s defense against Paul George. It also helps that Fournier led the Magic with 25 points, shooting 10-14 from the field.
The Pacers aren’t in a position to lose games against teams like the Magic. Indiana is fighting for the last playoff spot in the Eastern conference and sit 8th in the standings. They are one game ahead of the Chicago Bulls who have strung together back-to-back wins.
The Pacers are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and take on the 76ers in Philadelphia tomorrow.
The Magic return to action against the Bucks tonight in Milwaukee, tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
