Braves Snap Losing Streak After Sweeping Marlins
The Atlanta Braves ended their 0-9 start to the season this weekend after sweeping the Marlins in Miami. The Marlins were unable to pull out a come back win and dropped Sunday’s game 6-5 in extra innings. Miami is now 0-5 at home to start the season. Marlins manager Don Mattingly says they can’t get the losses back but they need to find a way to win at home or away.

The Braves watched a five run lead disappear as the Marlins tied the score at five in the ninth inning with Ichiro Suzuki’s two out RBI single. Rookie Mallex Smith’s RBI single in the 10th put the Braves on top and gave them the edge to win their first series of the season. Smith says the team finished strong, overcoming a slow start and adds as long as you finish it strong everybody is happy with that. Smith by the way played in college for the Santa Fe Saints in Gainesville.
Jarred Cosart started on the mound for the Marlins and dug them in a hole early, giving up four runs in the first and walking five batters. Cosart threw a total of 54 pitches in the first two innings. He lasted 5.2 innings and retired 12 in a row after the slow start.
For the Braves, starter Jhoulys Chacin retired the first 10 batters and did not give up a run until the sixth inning when the Marlins put three on the board.
We showed fight, but lose today's game, 6-5.

Up next, the Marlins will begin a four game home series with the Washington Nationals tonight. Jose Fernandez will be on the mound for the Marlins, and Tanner Roark draws the start for the Nationals. The teams split their first two games of the season earlier this month in Miami’s first road trip.
