The 2016 NBA Draft is not over and there were relatively few surprises. As expected, former LSU star Ben Simmons was the first player selected, by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Los Angeles Lakers chose second and selected forward Brandon Ingram from Duke. Boston selected Jaylen Brown with the third pick.
The Orlando Magic, desperately needing a rim protector, traded Victor Oladipo, forward Ersan Ilyasova and the rights to forward Domantas Sabonis to Oklahoma City for big man Serge Ibaka. Several other SEC players were selected in the draft including several players from Kentucky.

Florida forward Dorian Finney-Smith was not drafted but will likely sign with an NBA team as a free agent.
Oklahoma sharp shooting guard Buddy Hield was taken sixth overall by New Orleans and Kentucky’s Jamal Murray seventh by Denver. Several foreign players were also high draft selections; Phoenix at number four took forward Dragan Bender from Croatia and Milwaukee selected forward Thon Maker from Australia with the 10th overall pick.
