Coach McElwain addresses yet another suspension for the Gators
Injuries and suspension are nightmares for any athletic institution, especially entering the first week of the season. Coach McElwain addressed the media late Wednesday afternoon and said receiver C.J. Worton would miss Saturday’s season opener with a high ankle sprain when they take on UMass in the Swamp. This leaves the Gators with only six eligible receivers for Saturdays game due to both injuries and suspensions. However, things could be worse. One receiver the Gators are glad to have back is sophomore Antonio Callaway.

An un-disclosed senior will miss Saturdays game as well. When asked who this senior is and why he is suspended, McElwain would not release his name and instead said its his job to protect his players and teach them a lesson. With freshman wideouts Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells out this week for their summer arrests for their involvement with shooing BB guns on campus, the Gators will enter Saturdays game with Antonio Callaway, Dre Massey, Brandon Powell, and Ahmad Fulwood as the primary receivers available.
With only three days until kickoff, the Gators will attempt to look past these suspensions and injuries and focus on UMass. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Swamp.
