Heat Tally First Home Win

After falling to the San Antonio Spurs (4-1) 106- 99, the Miami Heat (2-2) won their first home game of the season bouncing back with an overtime win against the Sacramento Kings (2-3) Tuesday night. The Heat outscored the Kings 17-5 after regulation.

Goran Dragic, Tyler Johnson and Deion Waiters led the way with 65 combined points.

After a 14 point, 11 rebound performance, Hassan Whiteside already recorded his fourth double-double on the season.

Whiteside is averaging 13.8 rebounds per game, three blocks per game and 19.9 points per game.

It was a close game throughout. It was up until the fourth quarter when Kings forward Rudy Gay went on a personal 7-0 run to turn a five-point deficit into an 89-87 lead on his jumper. The Kings lost the lead twice in the final 1:48 of regulation.

Gay grabbed 12 boards and scored a season high 30 points. Demarcus Cousins also added 30 points and tallied up seven rebounds, four assist and one block.

Cousins fouled out by the end of regulation after entering the fourth quarter without a foul.

The Kings are third in Pacific Division. The Kings are 22nd in offense (100.8 point per game) and 13th in defense (102.6 points allowed per game).

Sacramento will travel to Orlando the play the Magic (1-3) Thursday, November 3.

The Heat are third in the Southeast Division. Miami has the 10th best defense in points allowed per game (98.8). Their offense is 19th (101.5 points per game.)

The Heat are doing this with the same nine-man rotation, including the same substitution pattern, for the first three games of the season. Head Coach, Erik Spoelstra says this is the best line-up for the team at the moment. “Since we have some new faces and guys are learning a new system I’m trying to keep it as consistent as possible to build continuity. How this may look in a few weeks or months down the line I don’t know. But I want to give guys a chance to feel comfortable.”

The Heat’s next game will be Nov. 4 on the road against the Toronto Raptors (2-1).
