Unfortunately for Gator fans, the Florida State Seminoles’ dominance in the football field seems to have carried over to the world of women’s basketball. The No.7 Seminoles downed the Gators by a score of 83-58 last night.

A Game of Runs
While the final score certainly doesn’t reflect this, the Gators were in the game in the early going. However, FSU used a 10-0 run near the end of the first quarter to separate themselves. In similar fashion, when the Gators were within 5 points with just over a minute left in the first half, the ‘Noles pulled away again. They ended up taking a 10 pint lead into halftime. A 34-15 run in the final 13 minutes of the game then spelled the end for any hope of a Gator comeback.
These Seminole runs reflected on the stat line, as FSU’s entire starting five scored double-digits. The team was led scoring-wise by Laticia Romero’s 21 points.
A Bright Spot
While the Sunshine Showdown wasn’t exactly bright this time around for the Gators, one player did seem to shine. Forward Ronni Williams scored 20 points in 28 minutes despite getting in some early foul trouble. While also throwing in five rebounds, Williams was the only Gator to reach double-digits in points. The night marked Williams’ second 20-point game of the season, and third of her career.
Up Next
The Gators will next take on North Carolina A&T on Sunday from Panama City. Tipoff from GCSC’s Billy Harrison Field House is scheduled for 3 p.m.
