Several Area Boy’s High School Basketball Teams Advance In Regionals

Several area high school boy’s basketball teams picked up victories Thursday night to advance in regional play.

Hawthorne vs. Hamilton County

Hawthorne had a big  56-43 win against rival Hamilton County Thursday night sending them to the regional final.   The teams previously split their last four games with all the wins coming on each other’s home court.  Senior Detron Green lead the way to Hawthorne’s big win with 27 points and 10 rebounds and now the Hornets host Madison County Tuesday in a regional final.

Gainesville vs. Jacksonville Englewood

On the road, Gainesville pulled a win over Jacksonville Englewood, 58-43.  Senior forward Isaiah Wilson lead the Hurricanes with 19 points and the win sends the Hurricanes to a regional semifinal game Tuesday at rival Ocala Vanguard; this will be the fourth time the school’s have played each other this season.

Santa Fe vs. Palm Coast Matanzas

Santa Fe prevailed over Palm Coast Matanzas Thursday night, 59-46 as senior center Donavin Byrd led the way with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Santa Fe will now host Palatka in the regional semifinals.

PK Yonge vs. Jacksonville Bishop Snyder

Jacksonville Bishop Snyder proved to be a strong opponent for PK Yonge Thursday but the Blue Wave escaped with a 56-55 win.   Freshman Jalen Speer lead the Blue Wave with 18 points who will now travel to face Providence Tuesday in a regional final.

Dixie County vs. Crescent City

Dixie County beats Crescent City 61-54 and they will now play at Wildwood in a regional final Tuesday.

Bradford County vs. Jacksonville Andrew Jackson

Bradford County came out on top Thursday 63-51 and the Tornadoes will move on to a regional final Tuesday.
