High School Football Preview: Union County vs. Baldwin High

The Union County High School Fightin’ Tigers will go head to head with the Baldwin High Indians this Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Union County High

So far this season, Union County is 3-1. The Fightin’ Tigers are ranked 314 in the state of Florida. Last week, they suffered a tough loss against Dixie County, but they are hoping to make a come back with this game against Baldwin High. Head Coach Ronny Pruitt is aware of the changes they need to make in order to win. He has confidence in his team going into this game. In his interview, Pruitt discusses what it will take for his team to win against Baldwin High tomorrow night.

Baldwin High

Baldwin High is currently 1-2 this season. The Indians are not far behind the Fightin’ Tigers in terms of Florida ranking. Baldwin is ranked 326 for this season, so it could be a close game.

FHSAA Classification Changes

This is the first season where the FHSAA classification changes are affecting local high school football.  Pruitt is not necessarily a fan of the changes yet, but he says that he is going to see how it goes and that “change is kind of hard when you don’t know how the change is going to work out.”  He will have to change the way he schedules his team’s games in order to maximize points.

He refers to this new system as a “double-edged sword” because of how complicated it is, yet how it will help them in certain situations.  He explained that depending on how well the team they play did last season, they could get points regardless on whether they win or lose.
