The Auburn Tigers’ bye week comes when the Tigers might need it most. Last weekend, the No. 19 Tigers defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 52-20, making their overall record 6-2 and improving to 4-1 in the SEC.
However, this football program is dealing with multiple injuries. According to head coach Gus Malzahn, this bye week couldn’t have come at a better time.
There are at least five Auburn starters that are dealing with a variety of injuries, including three offensive lineman: Darius James, Casey Dunn and Mike Horton. Malzahn says that practices this week won’t be anything too strenuous, as he wants many of his players to rest and seek help from trainers.
The coaching staff will also use this week to focus on looking over film, coming up with new game plans, and recruiting.

Coming back from LSU Loss
A few weeks ago, Auburn faced a tough loss, falling 27-23 against LSU. The Auburn Tigers were able to hold off LSU until the fourth quarter, when the Orgeron’s Tigers scored 13 points to take the win.

Auburn took that loss and came back stronger against Arkansas last weekend. All the things Auburn seemed to lack against LSU, they made sure to exploit against Arkansas.
They showed a strong running game, they forced turnovers and they gave it everything they had all four quarters. Kamryn Pettway, who has been battling an injury, took over in the second half with 90 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.
This marked Pettway’s fourth career multiple-touchdown game and third three-score game of his career.

After Texas A&M, Auburn will face No. 3 Georgia, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and end the season with No. 1 Alabama.
The Tigers have a tough schedule ahead of them, but Malzahn says his team will finish this season strong.
