HS Football Preview: Buchholz takes on Bartram Trail tonight

Tonight the Buchholz Bobcats will be facing the Bartram Trail Bears on Citizen’s Field. Tonight’s game is going to be interesting because it’s for the District Championship title. On top of the championship, it’s Senior night for the Bobcats and the players and they’re excited to hit the field. The Bears have proven to be a strong force in high school football this season. Bobcats’ Coach Mark Whittemore praises the Bears for their skill so far in the season.

Buchholz is currently 4-4. They started their season with two losses but things have taken a turn in their past two games. Last week Buchholz Last Week Buchholz snagged a 25-22 win in overtime against Oakleaf last week.  Buchholz is a smaller team than Bartram Trail but they provide under the circumstances. The Bobcats only have 60 members on their roster while Bartram Trail has 107. Coach Whittemore is happy with the progress he’s seen throughout the season so far.

As for Bartram Trail they hold a 5-3 record and rank in the top 25 team in Florida. The team plays strong and have quite a few players with promising futures in football. Quarterback Joey Gatewood committed to Auburn. The Bears are coming in from a 38-21 loss last week against Cocoa that ended their three game winning streak.

Offensively the Bears are a threat, but Buchholz Coach Whittemore thinks they have a weakness his defensive line is prepared to challenge tonight.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm tonight at Citizen’s Field.
