2017 in Review for Stars

Starting with Martez Ivey, he would have a very impressive 2017 season. Ivey started in all of the Gators’ 11 games last season. Of those 11 starts, nine would be at offensive tackle, before moving to left guard for the final two games of the season. Ivey was later named to the Second Team All-SEC by the Associated Press and league coaches.

Moving onto Cece Jefferson, he ranked fourth on the team last season in tackles, with 47. Jefferson would start eight games last season at defensive end. A key member of the Gator defense, he led the team int tackles-for-loss, totaling 13.5 tackles for a loss of 38 yards, and 4.5 sacks for a loss of 14 yards. Jefferson also six quarterback hurries and a pass breakup on the season, which would be the second highest on the team.

Rounding out the group is David Reese. Reese would miss the offseason due to injury (wrists), but returned in time for the start of the season. Reese would also start all 11 games of the Gators’ season, and would total 102 tackles, leading the team in that category. The linebacker also recorded 1.5 sacks, and would have the second-most tackles-for-loss at 10.0. Reese would break the 100-tackle mark in the closing game of the season on Nov. 25 against Florida State, finishing the day with 14 tackles.
