Former Jag James Robinson Excited for New Home With Jets

Third-year running back James Robinson has been traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the New York Jets following week seven games.

Why New York?

After using a second-round pick on Iowa State running back Breece Hall, the New York Jets were seeing major results seven weeks into the season. The rookie was putting together a terrific season. 80 rush attempts for an average of 5.8 yards per carry which totaled 463 yards in a young season was very promising. Unfortunately, Hall went down in a win against the Broncos with an injury. The diagnosis was a torn ACL and meniscus injury as well.

As a 5-2 team trailing Buffalo by just one game in the division, the Jets needed to make a move. They decided to go for James Robinson in Jacksonville. The undrafted free agent out of Illinois State in 2020 was moved by the Jags because they also have their own former first-round pick, Travis Etienne. Luckily for Robinson, he is making a move from a team that is 2-5 to a team that is 5-2.

Reaction from James Robinson

Robinson has definitely already proved himself to be a quality first option in an NFL backfield. As a rookie, he shocked the league by going over 1,000 yards rushing. The following year he went for over 700 yards on very limited carries. The call may have come as a bit of a surprise, but he handled it as a professional.

The trade made by the jets organization shows that they believe that they can win now. Robinson is expected to see action this Sunday as the Jets host the Patriots. It will be interesting to see if Robinson can help the Jets stay hot. The team has won four straight games and is looking for more. Without a doubt, Robinson will play a huge role in their effort to make a playoff push in the second half of the year.
