Dan Mullen’s Coaches of the Week

Every week former Florida Gator football head coach Dan Mullen chooses who he think are the best coaches that week. Mullen named the top three college football coaches of the tenth week: Brian Kelly of LSU, Casey Woods of SMU and Glenn Schumann of UGA.

Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly is a former linebacker and the current No. 7 LSU head coach and has been since the end of 2021. Formerly, he coaches for No. 20 Notre Dame for over 10 years.

Last Saturday, LSU played against the University of Alabama and took a win of 32-31. It was a close game that went to overtime with a tied score of 24-24 before LSU took the win after a two-point conversion.

Next Saturday, LSU is playing University of Arkansas.

Casey Woods

Casey Woods is the offensive coordinator for Southern Methodist University. He started his coaching career in 2008, and he has worked with a total of seven teams so far.

Saturday, SMU played against the Houston Cougars. SMU scored 77 points against the Cougars. This led SMU to break the FBS record for combined regulation points with a total of 140 points. The former record was 137 in 2016 (Syracuse and Pittsburg). The only game with more points was a game with LSU and Texas A&M but, it took seven overtime periods to achieve that feat.

Next Saturday, SMU is playing against University of South Florida.

Glenn Schumann

Glenn Schumann is the current co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at the No. 1 University of Georgia. His coaching career started in 2008 when he was working for University of Alabama and switched to UGA in 2016.

Last Saturday, Georgia played against (previously No. 1) University of Tennessee and won with a score of 27-13. After the game, Georgia was ranked No. 1 and Tennessee dropped to No. 5. Throughout the game, Tennessee only scored one touchdown while Georgia scored three.

Next Saturday, UGA will play against Mississippi State.
