Nabil Fekir will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury during Real Betis’ 3-2 win against Elche FC Friday. Fekir had a pair of goals and assists in his 15 appearances for the club this season.
The French international will undergo surgery in the next few days. This is a huge blow for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who host Real Madrid FC over the weekend. He has been a key player since joining in 2019 from Lyon, winning the Copa Del Rey last season.

Injury History for Fekir
This isn’t the first time the Frenchman suffers a crucial knee injury. During his stint with french side Lyon, Fekir was linked with a transfer to Liverpool before the 2018 World Cup, which failed due to his history of knee injuries.
He has had many muscular problems with the Spanish side, missing 31 games in a span of four seasons.
Looking Forward
Betis are currently fighting for a Champions League spot, No. 5 in La Liga behind Atletico Madrid. They also hold a spot in the Europa League last-16 against Manchester United.
Los verdiblancos won three consecutive games leading up to their match against Real Madrid. They include victories over Elche (3-2), Real Valladolid (2-1) and Almeria (3-2).
Nonetheless, Betis midfielder Sergio Canales is set for a return from his muscular injury before their date at Old Trafford on March 9.
