Around the SEC: Baseball Rivalry Week

April 13th-16th is rivalry weekend in the SEC. There are currently seven baseball teams within the conference in the NCAA top 25 with four of those in the top five. With all the success that most of these teams have seen so far this season, it is set to be an exciting weekend of baseball.

Kentucky vs. LSU

Kentucky will face the top team in the NCAA, LSU, in Baton Rouge. The Wildcats enter this series with a 27-5 record and are 9-3 in SEC play so far this season, putting them in the No. 3 spot in the East. The Tigers sit at second in the SEC West with a 7-4 conference record and 27-5 overall record. LSU leads the all time series at 55-31-1.

Missouri vs. Texas A&M

The Aggies claim the third spot in the SEC West with a record of 5-7 in conference play,  but have won their last two series against Ole Miss and Auburn. Mizzou sits near the bottom of the SEC with the six spot in the East and a record of 4-8. The Tigers opened conference play with a three game sweep of Tennessee, but have since dropped series to South Carolina, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt

The Gamecocks are heading into the series with an overall record of 29-4 and currently hold the No.2 spot in the SEC East with a 9-2 conference record. They will head to Nashville to battle the top seed in the SEC, Vanderbilt. The Commodores are 27-6 with an 11-1 conference record. Their lone loss was handed to them by Mizzou in a close 5-4 game.

Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State

The Rebels currently sit at the bottom of the West and the SEC overall with a conference record of 2-10. Ole Miss has not seen a series victory over a conference rival yet this season. They were swept by both Vanderbilt and Florida and lost series 2-1 against Texas A&M and Arkansas. Mississippi State has struggled in SEC play as well, sitting at No. six in the SEC West with a record of 3-9. The Bulldogs only SEC series victory so far this season came last weekend against Alabama.
