Redeemer Christian Defeats Hawthorne Hornets Baseball

On Thursday, April 13, the Hawthorne Hornets were seeking a win against Redeemer Christian Lions in an away game in Ocala. The home-field advantage played in the Lions’ favor as they defeated the Hornets. The valiant effort resulted in a final score of 9-2.

Slow Start for the Hornets

A disappointing first inning took place for both teams. After both teams experienced strikeouts, the game moved forward into the second inning. Neither team scored a single point in the first inning.

Redeemer Lions made a comeback in the top of the second inning, scoring four runs. These runs come from the ability of the Lions to hone in on the weaknesses of the Hornets. In doing so, the Hornets experienced a hard time making a return in the bottom of the second inning. Strikeouts and stolen bases plagued the bottom of the second inning, and only one run slipped through the cracks. Lions’ Hise pitched an impressive 10 strikeouts, many of which happened in the first half of the game.

The third inning grew the lead for the Lions. It happened to be a slow push toward victory, only scoring one run. The Hornets finished out the third inning with none. The score rounded out to 5-1.

Hornets Never Gave Up

The Redeemer Lions held their lead strong, edging into the last half of the game. Hawthorne struggled with keeping Redeemer off the bases, allowing them to snag four runs in the fourth inning alone. Redeemer held strong in response, striking out Hawthorne.

Following the fourth inning, the Lions did not score any more points against Hawthorne. The Lions continued to grab more strikeouts against the Hornets, keeping them from scoring any points.

Entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Hornets captured one lucky run to raise the score to 9-2. Despite this valiant effort, the Hornets made too many mistakes early on to secure a win. The Hornets’ defense made vital errors, allowing the Lions to score multiple runs.

Wolves On The Prowl For A Win

Despite their loss, the Hornets demonstrated determination and fought until the end. The Lions were able to capitalize upon the weaknesses of the Hornets.

Hawthorne is still looking to earn more wins this season, next with their game on Friday against Williston.
