ULM Travels to College Station to Face Texas A&M

The Texas A&M Aggies will go toe-to-toe Saturday against the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in College Station, Texas. This is the first time the two team’s will matchup since 2018. The Aggies will look to regroup from their 48-33 loss against the Miami Hurricanes Saturday. After being ranked No. 23 last week, the Aggies dropped out of the Top 25 in this week’s rankings.

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke highly of ULM’s talent.

The Warhawks are coming off of a 24-14 win against Lamar at Malone Stadium Saturday. ULM is aiming to start 3-0 start as a member of the NCAA’s Football Bowl Subdivision. Against Lamar, the Warhawks ground game dominated, rushing for a total of 298 yards with three ULM running backs recording than 50 yards rushing. Hunter Smith and Isaiah Woullard had 101 and 113 yards rushing, respectively.

Not the First Battle 

Saturday’s game between ULM and Texas A&M will be the fifth all-time battle between the Warhawks and Aggies. The last time the two teams met, A&M defeated the Warhawks 48-10 in College Station. The first game was a 31-17 Texas A&M win over ULM on Sept. 21, 1985, and since 2007, the teams have met a total of three times. The Aggies defeated the Warhawks 54-14 in September of 2007, and held off ULM 21-16 back in 2014.

Fisher discussed the Aggies’ program success and talked about the amount of valuable resources the school has.

 

In the head-to-head battle in 2018, ULM quarterback Caleb Evans completed 15 of 28 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown with one interception. The Warhawks assembled a total of 328 yards against their SEC opponent.

However, Texas A&M ran all over the Warhawks in the game, rushing for 281 yards on the ground, and quarterback Kellen Mond threw for 210 yards in the air with a touchdown.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.
