Phillies One Win Away from NLCS Trip

The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves are in the middle of the NLDS.

Wednesday night, they played Game 3 of the series, where the teams were tied, with the Phillies winning the first game and the Braves winning the second. The Phillies took the series lead, beating the Braves 10-2. They play again tonight in Citizens Bank Park, which could be the final game of the NLDS.

Game 3:

Game 3 started scoreless in the first two innings. The Braves scored the first run in the third inning.  Then, the Phillies scored six runs in the same inning. Two of which were home runs.

Then, the Phillies scored in the fifth inning from a home run. In the sixth inning, the Braves scored again. However, the Phillies followed that run with another home run. In the eighth inning, the Phillies finished off the game with three home runs. They finished with a final score of 10-2.

Key Players:

In the third inning alone, Nick Castellanos hit his first home run of the night and Bryce Harper hit his first home run of the night, allowing Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner to score.

In the fifth inning, Harper hit his second home run which was the third for the Phillies. Then, in the sixth inning, the Phillies ultimately left fans with their jaws on the floor, with a home run from Turner, then Castellanos, and the final home run of the night from Marsh.

Phillies Head Coach Rob Thomson had this to say about star player Harper’s bounce back after his base running error:

Braves Head Coach Brian Snitker spoke out and talked about walking Harper, but in the end, Harper ended up hitting a home run:

Game 4:

This game could determine the future of the teams. The Braves could be sent home and the Phillies could move forward and go against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS. However, if the Braves pull out a win in Philadelphia then the teams will move to Game 5.

The starting pitcher for the Braves is Spencer Strider and Ranger Suarez is the starting pitcher for the Phillies.

Game 4 is set to be played in Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Bryce Harper had this to say about playing in Philadelphia and Phillie fans energy:

The rest of the playoff brackets were filled last night, with the Huston playing Astros, taking on the Texas Rangers for the ALCS championship, and the Arizona Diamondbacks will take on either the Phillies or Braves.

The Phillies and Braves game will begin at 8:07 p.m.
