Gators Swim and Dive Finish Day Two of Florida Invite with Two A Cuts

The Gators swimming and diving teams finished day two of the Florida Invitational against in-state opponent Nova Southeastern collecting more personal bests Friday at the O’Connell Center Natatorium.

A and B Cuts

The No. 4-ranked UF men recorded one a-cut and 18 b-cuts while the No. 3-ranked UF women recorded one a-cut and nine b-cuts.

The Gator men produced the first NCAA cut of the latter session. In the 200-yard medley relay, the A team of Adam Chaney, Julian Smith, Josh Liendo and Macguire McDuff went 1:22.95 to earn an a-cut. The women’s A relay of Catie Choate, Molly Mayne, Olivia Peoples and Micayla Cronk earned a b-cut with a time of 1:36.52.

Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant earned the first individual cut for the Gators. In the 400 IM, the junior recorded a b-cut time of 4:06.42. Zoe Dixon (4:11.97), Julia Podkoscielny (4:13.65) and Anna Auld (4:15.49) each earned b-cuts in the event.

The Florida men had eight b-cuts in the 400 IM. Mason Laur led the way with aย  3:41.16, accompanied by Gio Linscheer (3:45.50), Eric Brown (3:45.82), Ben Cote (3:46.03), Andrew Taylor (3:47.96), Joaquin Gonzalez-Pinero (3:49.80) and Josh Parent (3:47.91).

NCAA champion Josh Liendo went 45.08 in the 100-yard fly to earn a b-cut.

The Gators dominated the 200-yard freestyle, recording seven b-cuts. Isabel Ivey (1:43.03), Micayla Cronk (1:45.44) and Lainy Kruger (1:46.30) met the 1:47.12 standard set by the NCAA for women. On the men’s side, Macguire McDuff (1:32.91), Julian Smith (1:34.10), Oskar Lindholm (1:35.36) and Jake Mitchell (1:35.43) were under the 1:35.79 mark for the cut.

Grace Rainey (1:00.78) and Molly Mayne (1:00.88) made b-cuts in the 100-yard breast for the women. Raphael Rached Windmuller (53.17) and Aleksas Savickas (53.44) recorded b-cuts for the men.

In the 100-yard back, former No. 1 recruit Bella Sims went 50.44 to record both a personal best and an a-cut. For the men, Jonny Marshall (45.81), Adam Chaney (46.09) and Caleb Maldari (46.57) recorded b-cuts.
