SFC Report: Saints In Final Men’s Basketball Game Of Regular Season

Santa Fe College athletic teams are approaching the end of the winter sports season, while the spring sports are beginning to catch some steam.

Men’s Basketball

At 5 p.m. today, the Saints men’s basketball team (11-18, 6-9 Mid-Florida Conference) will battle Indian River State College (9-20, 2-13) in Fort Pierce in ts last game of the regular season.

The last time the two teams met, the Saints defeated the Pioneers 89-68. After clinching the win against Miami Dade College on Saturday to keep their state tourney hopes alive, the Saints will have to perform once again today if they want to claim their spot.

Women’s Basketball

The Saints concluded the regular season with an 80-56 loss to Miami Dade College on Saturday to finish with a 9-20 record overall and 5-13 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

Softball

Santa Fe’s softball team has a busy schedule this week with doubleheaders Tuesday and Saturday. They have an overall record of 13-10 and a conference record of 3-5.

Starting off, the Saints will host Hillsborough Community College at 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday. This is the first time the two teams will meet this season. The Saint are on a three-game win streak and shouldn’t have much trouble adding to it, as Hillsborough is 1-13 on the season.

Then on Saturday, the Saints will be on the road to face Florida Southwestern State College at 1 and 3 p.m. in Fort Myers. Florida Southwestern is undefeated and is on a 20-game win streak.

Baseball

The SFC baseball team has games Thursday and Saturday against Miami Dade College.

On Thursday, the Saints will play on the road in Miami to start off the series. First-pitch begins at 4 p.m. at the Kendall campus baseball field.

The two teams will then travel back to Gainesville to finish out the series with a doubleheader Saturday. The first game of the day will start at noon and the second game will start right after at 3 p.m.

The Saints are just under .500 with an 11-12 record overall, 4-5 in the conference. To watch the game, both streaming and live stats can be found on Santa Fe’s baseball page on their athletics website.
