No. 4 Gators Softball Beats Auburn 4-3 To Complete Sweep

The No. 4 Florida Gators softball team defeated the Auburn Tigers 4-3 on the road Sunday afternoon. The Gators completed their first SEC sweep of the season. Auburn is now 0-12 in conference play (22-14 overall).

The third inning saw Florida (33-5, 6-3) score all four of its runs. Reagan Walsh hit a two-run double, followed by RBI singles from both Kenleigh Cahalan and Korbe Otis.

Kendra Falby went 3-for-4 at the plate, leading the way for the Gators. Falby has been on-base in 38 straight games and has recorded three hits in two consecutive games. She now has 304 career hits which ranks as second-most in program history. Kelsey Stewart (2013-2016) holds the school record (357).

Meanwhile, Auburn scored all three of its runs on two home runs, one in the first and one in the sixth inning.

The Gators had three arms in the circle Sunday. Kara Hammock started for the Gators, pitching two innings while giving up just one hit (a Nelia Peralta two-run home run) with two strikeouts and two walks. Ava Brown (8-0) came in in relief, giving up just one run and three hits with one strikeout across 3.2 innings of work. Freshman Katelynn Oxley sealed the deal, pitching the final 1.1 innings while giving up no hits or runs.

The Gators travel to Tallahassee on Wednesday to face their in-state rivals, No. 7 FSU. The Gators have recorded seven run-rule victories against teams in the state of Florida this season. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
