Florida Men’s Golf Starts Season on Saturday
The Florida men’s golf team is set to begin its 2025-2026 season at the Sahalee Players Championship in Seattle, Washington on Saturday and Sunday.
The Gators are coming off a memorable spring season that included an SEC Championship, an NCAA regional crown and a national semifinals appearance. They had the pleasure of having the banner updated last week at the Condron Dining Hall to display those achievements.
Florida’s accomplishments are reflected in this year’s preseason polls. On Golfweek, Florida was selected as the No. 5 team, while the GCAA Coach’s Poll selected Florida as the No. 4 team in the country.
In addition, three Gators earned preseason All-America honors. Sophomore Zack Swanwick was selected to the Golf Channel Third Team. Jack Turner, a junior who is ranked No. 11 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, was selected to the Golf Channel and Golfweek Third Team.
Also, junior Luke Poulter was selected to the Golf Channel and Golfweek Second Team and was also added to the watch list for the Haskins Award. Poulter was selected to the Great Britain and Ireland Team for the Walker Cup on Saturday and Sunday.
Poulter was a key player for Florida last year. He missed seven months due to a stress fracture in his back, but returned and had a big hand in Florida’s tournament wins. During the SEC Championship, Poulter had a 3-0 match-play record. At the NCAA Bremerton Regional, Poulter helped Florida capture its fifth tournament title by finishing T4 at 10-under. In the summer, he also helped lead the Great Britain and Ireland team to victory against Continent Europe at the St. Andrew’s Trophy.
