Two Former Gators Named NFL Special Teams Players of Week

Former University of Florida standouts  Eddy Piñeiro and Chimere Dike were named Special Teams Players of the Week, the NFL announced Wednesday.

Piñeiro won the NFC honor for the 49ers after his outing last Thursday night, when he accounted for 14 points, including the game-winning field goal in overtime in the 26-23 win against the Rams. He went 4-for-4 on field goals and 2/2 on extra points. 

Piñeiro was the kicker at UF from 2016-2017. During his second season for the Gators he led the FBS in field goal percentage at 94.4%

Dike won AFC award for the Tennessee Titans after their win against the Cardinals on Sunday. Dike had 136 return yards on three punts and four kickoffs, including a 65-yard kickoff return that set up the Titans in great field position that resulted in a field goal.

 In his one season for the Gators in 2024, Dike had 42 catches for 783 yards and two touchdowns along with 187 yards of punt returns.
