Former Gators Star Anthony Richardson Injured in Freak Pregame Accident
Former Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered an injury Sunday during pregame warm-ups before the Indianapolis Colts faced the Arizona Cardinals.
Richardson suffered a freak accident during warmups that sent him to the hospital and ruled him out for the game. The Colts backup quarterback reportedly had a malfunction with elastic bands and it hit him in the eye.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Richardson suffered an orbital fracture and remained in the hospital for the entire game. In his absence, the Colts moved Riley Leonard to the No. 2 quarterback spot and listed Richardson as an inactive.
Similarly, the Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward also suffered a freak injury during warmups Sunday. Ward suffered a concussion after the deadline for declaring inactive players, resulting in them being one player short.
The Colts beat the Cardinals, 31-27. There is no further update on either player’s condition yet.
