Florida Centerback Abby Gemma Named to U.S. U-20 Camp
Florida Gators soccer received major recognition for one of its stars, as centerback Abby Gemma has been called into the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team training camp.
Gemma will travel to Kansas City, Missouri, next week to take part in the elite camp, which features many of the top young players in the country. The rising junior started every match for the Gators at center back during the 2025 season, playing the full 90 minutes in all but two contests.
She proved to be a key piece of the Gators’ defense, leading the team with 1,604 minutes played.
The training camp runs April 7–16 and will include a pair of matches against Brazil’s 2026 qualifying squad. The camp serves as continued development ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled for Sept. 5–27 in Poland.
Gemma is no stranger to the national team environment. The upcoming camp marks her third U.S. U-20 event since late last fall. She is one of 14 collegiate players selected for the prestigious camp, joining a roster that also includes 11 players currently playing in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Gemma most recently competed with the Gators on Saturday in their 4-0 win over College of Charleston in an early season scrimmage.
