Florida Baseball Drops Out of Rankings After 1-3 Week

April 6, 2026

Florida baseball’s week-by-week inconsistencies have continued to reveal itself this season.

After going 4-0 against ranked opponents two weeks ago, the Gators went 1-3 last week against two unranked competitors, dropping them out of the latest D1 Baseball Top-25 rankings.

Florida previously sat at No. 21, but following a 4-3 loss to Jacksonville and a series loss against Ole Miss, Florida has now fallen out of the rankings again and made room for the Rebels to jump to No. 25.

The Gators started off their first game of the week strong, leading 3-0 by the fourth inning. However, Florida surrendered four unanswered runs in the final three innings to drop its first midweek game of 2026.

Florida started its series against Ole Miss with a two-run lead in the first two innings of the opener, but the Rebels clapped back with a three-run third frame to secure the lead for good and take a  6-4 win. This marked the Gators fifth loss to the Rebels at home under coach Kevin Sullivan.

Florida attempted redemption by securing the second game 2-0. Sophomore pitcher Aidan King threw his seventh shutout of the season, with sophomore infielder Kyle Jones and senior catcher Karson Bowen earning  the only runs of the game in the third inning.

The Gators fell short for the second time of the series in the finale, finishing with a  5-2 loss. Florida led the game from the bottom of the third until the top of the ninth, but were outdone by the Rebels in the end as they scored five runs in the final frame

Florida looks for redemption this week and will travel to Tallahassee to compete against No. 5 Florida State on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
