Alex Condon Returning to Florida for Senior Season
The three-year Gator who corralled the loose ball in the waning seconds of Florida’s 2025 national title game is staying in Gainesville for his senior campaign.
Alex Condon will run it back for his fourth year with Florida after immense speculation surrounding his departure to the 2026 NBA Draft.
“one more,” he posted on Instagram with a signed picture of himself that read “back to work.”
Condon played a pivotal part in Florida’s 2025 championship run and exploded onto the scene in his junior campaign. The Australian native notched 15.1 points per game in the 2025-26 season.
He also recorded a historic stat line — his 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, all without a turnover against a top-25 opponent was the first of its kind. The feat came on Feb. 1 against then-No. 23 Alabama amid Florida’s season-best 12-game winning streak.
Condon was named a top-five finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award on March 12, prior to his successful postseason outing. He averaged 17.2 points on 65.7% shooting across Florida’s four games in the SEC and NCAA Tournaments. While the Gators faced an unexpected second-round exit, Condon posted a team-high 21 points and seven rebounds against Iowa.
Condon was also named to the 2026 Associated Press All-SEC Second Team and All-SEC Coaches Third Team.
He averaged the second-most points (15.1), rebounds (7.5) and assists (3.6) of the 2025-26 Gators club, while he also excelled on the defensive side of the ball with 1.4 blocks per game ranked No. 1 on the team. His 189 made field goals also stacked up to first, while his 254 total rebounds trailed only Rueben Chinyelu’s 393.
Condon worked out for a handful of NBA franchises last season, while still maintaining his collegiate eligibility. After withdrawing from draft contention and returning to Florida for a strong third year, he will aim to bring a national title back to Gainesville for the 2026-27 season.
Joining Condon on Florida’s roster is a familiar face in Denzel Aberdeen. The former Gator transferred to Kentucky for the 2025-26 season before returning to Gainesville for his fifth year of eligibility (pending approval). Sophomore Boogie Fland will complete the Gators’ backcourt tandem after the guard announced his return on March 26.
The Gators saw two other big men, Micah Handlogten and Olivier Rioux, hit the transfer portal on April 7. Handlogten is awaiting a medical waiver while Rioux will be a redshirt sophomore next season.
Other notable decisions from Florida’s frontcourt lie in Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu. The junior pair could follow Condon back to Gainesville or declare for the 2026 NBA Draft in the near future. Haugh is a projected first-round selection while Chinyelu could fall to the second round.
