Gators Women’s Golf Advances to NCAA Championships for 30th Time
Gators women’s golf is NCAA Championships bound.
No. 3 Florida finished third in the Tallahassee Regional on Wednesday, following No. 9 Wake Forest (8-under) and No. 25 Florida State (4-under), hitting 3-under par and 2-over in the final round. The Gators held the lead after rounds one and two but fell two spots, still advancing in the top five teams.
Eastern Michigan and Kentucky also qualified, hitting 5-over par and 6-over, respectively. The Wildcats fought back after going 12-over par in round two. No. 15 UCLA was eliminated from contention, while North Florida placed seventh for its highest NCAA finish in program history.
ULM’s Johanna Sjursen finished tied third at 6-under to individually qualify for nationals, as her team placed eighth (26-over) to end its season.
This is the 30th time Florida has moved to the final tournament in program history, only the second SEC team to hit this mark. The Gators are making back-to-back championship appearances for the first time since the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Leading the Gators, freshman Katelyn Huber from Gainesville finished sixth, hitting 4-under with 62.57 points. Graduate student Megan Propeck followed her 5-over performance on Tuesday with a team-high 3-under-par showing in the final round to break even and finish tied for 10th.
Sophomore Siuue Wu and 2026 SEC Champion Paula Francisco finished 2-over and 3-over, respectively, with Elaine Widjaja finishing fifth on the Gators squad, hitting 5-over par.
Florida begins championship action in Carlsbad, California on May 22.
The top two teams in the country, Stanford and Southern California, won their respective regionals, posing a challenge for Florida at Omni La Costa. The Gators haven’t won a national team title since going back to back in 1985 and 1986, the fourth and fifth NCAA Championships in women’s golf.
