The Standard Setters have been revealed.
Episode 3 of The 35 — WRUF 98.1’s summer countdown of the greatest athletes in University of Florida history — aired Thursday and delivered five names that are already generating debate. Carlos Alvarez, “The Cuban Comet,” joined the show in studio. A College Football Hall of Famer who set SEC sophomore receiving records in 1969 that still stand more than 55 years later, Alvarez made the case for why the pre-Spurrier era deserves more respect in the Florida football conversation.

The Greatest Gators Moments Bracket also revealed its third quadrant Thursday. Two new matchups are now live — the 2006 Football National Championship vs. Tim Tebow’s Heisman (2007), and the 2017 College World Series Title vs. Steve Spurrier’s Heisman (1966). Week 2 results — 2006 Men’s Basketball Title and Tebow’s Promise Speech both advanced — were announced live on air.
