Florida’s Alex Condon Named to Australia Senior National Team
Florida’s returning senior Alex Condon secured a coveted spot on his country’s national team.
The 6-foot-11 forward will play for Australia at FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers as a part of the country’s senior men’s national team.
Before his selection Tuesday, Condon averaged 15.1 points for the Gators en route to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, an SEC Championship and the 2025 National Championship. After the season, he elected to remain at Florida for his senior season over entering the 2026 NBA Draft, where he was projected to go 33rd, according to ESPN.
Condon will become the third Gators player to compete for their senior national team while still competing at Florida, joiningAndrew Nembhard (Canada) in 2019 and Mike Rosario (Puerto Rico) in 2012.
However, the Condon won’t be the first family member to play for the Australia national team before. Condon’s mother, Leah Condon, was a part of the Australian national team as a swimmer.
The Australian forward will make his national team debut in his hometown of Perth for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers on July 3.
