Ex-Gator Jocelyn Erickson Hits First AUSL Home Run
Taken fifth overall by the Chicago Bandits, Jocelyn Erickson entered the Athletes Unlimited Softball League with high expectations in May. Coming off of a shaky early-season start, the former Gators softball slugger appeared to struggle adjusting to the professional level.
But in the past six games, Erickson has turned a corner, with things paying off in a big way Sunday with her first career home run for the Chicago Bandits in a 5-4 loss against the Portland Cascade. During that stretch, she has a .273 batting average and a .545 slugging percentage.
Erickson played for the Gators for three seasons after transferring from Oklahoma, leaving for the AUSL ranked fifth all-time in home runs for the Gators with 51 and third all-time in slugging with a .726%. As a senior, she had a career-best .400 batting average and a team-leading 21 home runs for the Gators in 2026. The catcher left the University of Florida with a whole host of accolades, including a two-time All-SEC First Team selection, a 2026 Softball America First Team All-American and two Gold Glove Awards.
In Chicago, Erickson has found a familiar face behind the scenes, reuniting with former Gators teammate Skylar Wallace, who also plays for the Bandits.
Erickson and the Bandits look to bounce back from the Sunday loss on Wednesday against the 8-11 Carolina Blaze.
