Trevor Lawrence Headlines List of 2026 Jaguars Captains
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced their captains for the 2026 season Monday, and plenty of the selections were highly anticipated.
On the offensive side, quarterback Trevor Lawrence headlined the trio, named captain for his sixth straight season. Behind a 2025 campaign that landed him well in the running for NFL MVP, the face of the franchise continues to emerge as the primary leader on offense.
“He got every single vote on the offensive side of the ball … it’s kind of telling that the guys look to him,” coach Liam Coen said Monday. “I’ve just seen the ownership of the offense, and the entire offense sees that.”
Joining Lawrence in leading the offense is offensive lineman Robert Hainsey. This marks the 6-foot-4, 306-pound center’s second season as a captain in as many seasons with the franchise.
Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers rounds out the offensive captains in his first season with the honor. The 29-year-old played nine games for Jacksonville last season after the organization acquired him in a trade with the Raiders.
“We all saw what he did,” Coen said. “It wasn’t like he was a captain last year, but he may as well have been one in terms of his impact and influence on our team.”
On the defensive side, Josh Hines-Allen earned the honor for the sixth time in his career. The former first-round selection has been a staple of the Jaguars defensive line since his rookie season, when he earned his first Pro Bowl selection as a backup.
He is joined by now five-time captain Foyesade Oluokun, who anchors a new-look linebacker unit this season after leading the team in tackles last season with 143.
Rounding out the defensive captains, cornerback Jourdan Lewis returns for his second season with the honor after joining the Jaguars as a free agent from Dallas last offseason. Lewis spent eight seasons as a leader in Dallas despite never earning the captain title there, making his quick ascent into Jacksonville’s leadership group all the more notable.
“Trevor, Hainsey, Josh, Foye and [Lewis], those guys have continued to ascend in the leadership category, but we had a lot of guys that we could have named captains, so it’s a good group,” Coen said.
On special teams, punter Logan Cooke and long snapper Ross Matiscik earned the honors. Cooke enters his fourth season with the title, while this year will mark Matiscik’s first in the role.
Under special teams coordinator Heath Farwell’s direction, the two have anchored an unwavering unit over the past few seasons. Matiscik has earned Pro Bowl selections in his last three seasons.
“Three-time Pro Bowler, that speaks for itself,” Coen said. “But I think his maturity, presence, accountability in there as well will really help Logan and Cam and those guys as they lead that special teams unit.”
