Gators Volleyball Moves Up to No. 8 in Rankings

Gators volleyball is unstoppable four weeks into the season.

Florida moved up to No. 8 in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll following its strong start.

The Gators (8-1) earned wins against ranked opponents, including No. 17 Baylor in three sets and No. 15 Minnesota in four sets earlier this season.

Florida is the third SEC team ranked in the top 10, joining No. 3 Kentucky and No. 7 Texas. The SEC has a total of five teams ranked in the top 25, with Texas A&M at No.16 and Tennessee at No.13.

Florida’s rise in the poll comes after Stanford and Penn State dropped in the rankings. Stanford fell four spots after losing to No. 12 Arizona. No. 9 Penn State dropped five spots following a loss to Tennessee.

Wisconsin, which handed Florida its only loss this season, climbed to No. 6 in the rankings, placing the Badgers only two spots ahead of the Gators.

The Gators look to continue the momentum when they host Jacksonville (6-6) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday before opening SEC play at Oklahoma (7-2) at 3 p.m. ET Sunday.
