Gators Soccer Aims for First Home SEC Win
The Gators are preparing for a SEC soccer match against LSU at 6 p.m. Friday at Dizney Stadium. Florida is coming off a dominant road victory against Texas A&M, 5-2, last Sunday.
Florida (5-3-3, 1-1-2 SEC) leads the all-time series against LSU with a 21-3-2 mark, but the Tigers (2-8-2, 0-3-1) won the last matchup 4-1 in Baton Rouge last season. Florida is 9-1-1 at home against the Tigers.
A two-game homestand is part of Florida’s schedule for early October. It is 4-1-1 at home this season.
Freshman Lael Hill and sophomore Sophia Sindelar scored their first goals of 2026 at Texas A&M, bringing Florida’s number of goal scorers this season to 13. That is Florida’s highest total of different goal scorers since the 2019 and 2020-21 seasons. It also matches the 2026 Southeastern Conference high, as Arkansas and Oklahoma each have 13 different goal scorers this season.
Meanwhile, LSU has faced five ranked opponents this season, falling 2-0 to then-No. 18 Wake Forest and No. 22 Baylor and dropping 3-1 decisions to No. 8 Tennessee, No. 16 South Carolina and No. 21 Oklahoma.
Senior forward Ava Galligan, a member of the 2026 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, leads LSU with four goals and nine points. Senior goalie Audur Scheving has started all but one match for the Tigers and owns a 1.87 goals-against average.
Friday’s match will air on SEC Network+.
Florida stays home for a 7 p.m. Oct. 8 match against Alabama.
