The Numbers Behind Florida Volleyball’s 10-Match Win Streak
No. 5 Florida volleyball has won 10 consecutive matches for the first time since 2024, while only losing four sets during the stretch, three fewer than the 2024 Florida squad through its 10-match streak.
Sunday’s win against then-No. 3 Kentucky (11-3, 3-1 SEC) in five sets (22-25, 29-27, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8) at the O’Connell Center marks the first time Florida (12-1, 3-0) has defeated a top-five team since 2023.
The numbers say Florida has established its early-season dominance through a balanced effort on both sides of the net.
“It really is just my teammates,” Kamryn Chaney said. “They are just the most competitive and amazing girls I’ve been able to work with. They give me so much confidence when I’m playing.”
Defensive Dominance
Florida’s defense has been one of the best in the country by minimizing opponents’ attacking opportunities. The Gators rank 16th nationally in blocks per set (2.80), 14th in opponent hitting percentage (.158) and 13th in fewest kills allowed (522).
Alec Rothe leads the defensive efforts, ranking 49th nationally in individual blocks per set (1.29). Brooklyn Briscoe and Logan King, who Monday received her second SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honor this season, also find themselves among the top blockers in the country. Briscoe ranks 198th in individual blocks per set (1.02) and King ranks 256th in individual blocks per set (.98).
The Gators are also one of three top-five teams with at least three players in the top 300 individual blockers, joining No. 4 Kentucky and No. 2 Pittsburgh.
Killing it
Florida ranks similarly on the offensive side. The Gators hold the 22nd spot nationally in kills per set (13.87) and rank ninth in team hitting percentage (.291). Rothe leads the Gators in efficiency and ranks seventh nationally in individual hitting percentage (.449).
Chaney ranks 50th in individual kills per set (3.91). No other Gator ranks among the top 350 individuals in kills per set despite Chaney making up only 26% of the Gators’ total kills, displaying a balanced offensive distribution.
Taylor Parks has been setting up Florida for success. She ranks 32nd nationally in individual assists per set (10.30) and makes up over 80% of the Gators total team assists. The Gators rank 28th nationally in assists per set as a team (12.83).
Looking Ahead
Florida will have a chance to extend its winning streak when it plays at Missouri (8-7, 1-2) on Friday with coverage beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The Gators then play Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., at 2 p.m. ET Sunday.
