Florida Men’s Golf Wins Williams Cup by 17 Strokes

October 21, 2026

Florida men’s golf coach J.C. Deacon earned his 40th career tournament win Tuesday as the No. 10 Gators won the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.

After leading the field by 18 strokes entering the final round, Florida shot 6 under par to seal the victory in its final fall event. The Gators finished at 19 under, a tournament record, and beat second-place Auburn by 17 strokes. Auburn entered the event ranked second in the country.

The dominance at the Williams Cup is nothing new for the Gators. In 2025, they won wire-to-wire by 12 strokes.

The Gators were strong as a team and as individuals. Jack Turner, ranked No. 37 nationally, led Florida at 7 under, carding an under-par score in each of the three rounds. He finished second overall, one stroke behind Auburn’s Josiah Gilbert.

Luke Poulter, ranked No. 94 nationally, finished third at 4 under.

Florida closed a strong fall with back-to-back wins and a top-five finish in each of its four tournaments, including a first-place finish at the Hamptons Intercollegiate just before the Williams Cup.

The Gators now have a three-month break before the spring season. Florida opens Jan. 25 at the Southwestern Invitational in Westlake Village, California.
