Florida Double-Digit Underdogs Against Georgia

October 26, 2026

The No. 17 Florida Gators are 10.5-point underdogs against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs heading into Saturday’s rivalry game in Atlanta, according to FanDuel.

The teams enter the matchup off a bye week after opposite results the previous week. Florida upset then-No. 7 Texas 27-24 on the road, while then-No. 1 Georgia fell to unranked Auburn by the same score. The Gators also beat Auburn earlier this season in coach Jon Sumrall’s first SEC victory.

Oddsmakers had heavily favored both Texas and Georgia, making each result an upset against the spread.

A point spread measures a team’s margin of victory rather than simply whether it wins. The early betting line means the Bulldogs must win by at least 11 to cover the spread. Oddsmakers consider factors such as recent performance, power ratings and home-field advantage when setting the line.

Although Mercedes-Benz Stadium is technically a neutral site while Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium undergoes renovations, Atlanta’s proximity to Athens gives Georgia a geographic advantage.

Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) ranks second in the SEC in total offense, just ahead of Florida (5-2, 3-2) in fourth. Before its loss to Auburn, Georgia led the conference in scoring at 46.2 points per game. Against the Tigers, quarterback Gunner Stockton threw two touchdown passes and two interceptions and lost a fumble, costly mistakes in a three-point defeat.

Florida’s offense has been less consistent. The Gators outscored opponents 214-91 during their 4-0 start, led by running back Jadan Baugh, who rushed for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns. But Florida scored just 36 points in losses to Missouri and South Carolina.

The offense found a spark at Texas. Quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. completed 22 of 35 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start and added 41 rushing yards. His performance helped Florida pull off its second Top-10 win of the season.

The defensive gap is more pronounced. Georgia ranks third in the SEC in total defense, while Florida ranks 13th. Before losing to Auburn, the Bulldogs allowed 14 points per game and recorded 22 sacks through their first six games.

Auburn exposed vulnerabilities, however, as quarterback Byrum Brown rushed for 115 yards against Georgia. The Bulldogs also surrendered two passing touchdowns and struggled with missed tackles without injured defensive back KJ Bolden.

Florida, meanwhile, delivered its strongest defensive performance  against Texas. The Gators held the Longhorns to 272 yards, including 173 passing yards. They recorded five sacks, 11 tackles for loss and limited Texas to two conversions on 10 third-down attempts. Myles Graham’s forced fumble helped seal the win.

If Florida’s defense can carry that momentum into Atlanta, the Gators could make the matchup closer than the odds suggest. To cover the spread, Florida must win outright or lose by 10 points or fewer.

The spread favors Georgia, but Florida has already shown it can outperform expectations against a ranked opponent. The Bulldogs’ defensive consistency gives them an advantage, but if the Gators protect the ball and sustain their defensive intensity, they have a chance to keep the game within reach.
