Florida Volleyball Looks to Add to Win Total
No. 4 Florida volleyball is at Auburn for today’s 7 p.m. contest on SEC Network+ riding a four-match winning streak.
The Gators (17-2, 8-1 SEC) swept LSU and Ole Miss at the O’Connell Center last weekend.
Junior setter Taylor Parks was recognized for her role in those wins, earning SEC Setter and Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. For the weekend, the third-year setter averaged 11 assists, 2.67 digs, 1.5 points, 1 kill and 0.5 service aces per set. Against the Rebels, Parks tallied 35 assists.
The Gators are coming off a strong offensive performance, outhitting Ole Miss .393 to .128 with outside hitter Kamryn Cheney and middle blocker Alec Rothe recording 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Auburn (12-9, 2-7) took a 3-1 loss against LSU last Sunday. This wasn’t for a lack of effort, as right side Anastajia Ivkovic and outside hitter Belle Patrick led Auburn’s offense by racking up 11 kills each. Ivkovic recorded two blocks.
Auburn’s attack was the most widespread it has been all season, as six Tigers logged seven or more kills.
The all-time record between Florida and Auburn is fairly lopsided, with the Gators leading the series 54-3 since 1987. The most recent meeting was a 3-1 win for Florida on Oct. 3 of last season. The last time Auburn won this matchup was a five-set thriller on Nov. 8, 2015.
The Gators return home to host Arkansas (10-10, 2-7) for a Sunday afternoon match. Coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on ESPN 98.1-FM/850-AM and at 1 p.m. on SEC Network+.
