Florida Men’s Basketball Advances To Second Round

The Florida men’s basketball team has advanced to the third round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament with a convincing 71-45 win over Virginia on Saturday in  Omaha, Nebraska in the NCAA West Regional.

The Gators will now play Norfolk State at approximately 6:10pm eastern time on Sunday after the Spartans shocked two seed Missouri in its opening NCAA Tournament game with an 86-84 upset win, the first time a 15 seed has beaten a number two seed since 2001.

The Gators beat Virginia with a good defensive performance which negated a very poor shooting performance from beyond the arc but on this day it did not matter as Florida held the Cavaliers in check for most of the game.

Casey Prather had a monster game for Florida off the bench with 14 points in the Gator win.
