Gators Softball Gets Set to Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

For the tenth consecutive year, the Florida Gators softball team (46-11) will host an NCAA Regional at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators are the No.5 overall seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, marking the fifth straight year they have earned a top five seed.  They will play host to an all Florida regional as USF (45-11), UCF (39-17), and Florida Gulf Coast University (37-22) head to Gainesville this weekend.

The Gators have faced all of the teams in their regional earlier this season, racking a up a 2-2 record, after losing to USF and UCF one time each respectively.

Florida sophomore shortstop Cheyenne Coyle says she does not mind going up against familiar competition.

Coyle adds playing the regional at home gives the Gators a lot of energy.

The Gainesville Regional opens play on Friday with USF and UCF facing off at 3:30 and the Gators taking on FGCU at 6.  Play will continue through Sunday.  The winner of the Gainesville Regional will move on to face the winner of the Los Angeles Regional.
